Form 1 Letters

Letters from Grosvenor First Formers

Ben

Hello, my name is Ben and I used to go to Dundonald Primary School. When I started at Grosvenor I was worried that I would be overwhelmed with homework, that I would get lost and that there would be pupils so much bigger than me. But actually, the older pupils are really nice and always helpful and after a while the school begins to feel quite small. The homework is fine as long as you don't leave until it until the last minute. Making friends is easy as you get to go on a residential, which is great, and this helps you to get to know everyone better.

Joanna

My name is Joanna and I went to Elmgrove Primary School. When I came to Grosvenor I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make and new friends and that I would be alone because all my other friends from primary school were in different classes than me. Now I have made many new friends through clubs and sports during and after school. I am involved in many of these. I am in the Hockey, Relay and Netball teams and am part of the tennis group. I also belong to other sports and musical clubs.

Jack

My name is Jack and I used to go to Gilnahirk Primary School. When I first came to Grosvenor I was worried that it was a lot bigger than my primary school and that I would get lost. Now I'm used to it and it doesn't seem big anymore. All the equipment is up to date and in good condition so it is easier to have fun in extra activities like cricket and tennis. Most of the teachers are great. They make you work hard but are always willing to help you with your work. Don't worry about it - Grosvenor is super.

Leonie

My name is Leonie and I came to Grosvenor from Lisnasharragh Primary School. I've got to know my new class and teachers very well. I came here and learnt to play lots of new sports and try new subjects. Grosvenor is great, I thought that it would be hard to get round the school since it was so big but after a while I got used to it and where places are. At first I thought that I wouldn't make new friends but I've made loads. People that I had never heard of before have become some of my best friends.

Drew

My name is Drew and I came to Grosvenor from Dundonald Primary School. When I thought about coming to Grosvenor I was really nervous because of the size of it. It is a big school but by the end of the first week I knew my way around it. You do get quite a few homeworks, however as long as you organise yourself well you will have enough time to do them. I am captain of the cricket team and play trumpet in the Jazz Band and Senior Orchestra. Grosvenor has lots of computers and we've just got more, all of which have internet access.

Hannah

Hi, my name is Hannah and I came from Orangefield Primary School. I was quite worried that I wouldn't make friends but I got to know my whole class really well in the first few weeks. The residential trip to Whitepark Bay Youth Hostel was a really good way to get to make friends and it was really fun too. Now people I had never heard of this time last year are some of my best friends. Grosvenor has great sports and after school activities. There is something for everyone. We all thought that we would get lost around the school but our form teacher showed us around everywhere. I'm really glad that I came to Grosvenor.

David

My name is David and I went to Alexander Dickson School in Ballygowan. It was a huge leap in size as Alexander Dickson was a school of only 200 whereas Grosvenor has about 1100 pupils. I was quite nervous the first few weeks but I soon got used to my new classmates and surroundings. The teachers are very friendly and will give you a helping hand, all you need to do is to ask. Finding your way around is easy as the room numbers are according to what floor they are on. I've really enjoyed my time at Grosvenor so far and I'm sure that it will get even better.

Rebecca

My name is Rebecca and I came to Grosvenor form Comber Primary School. At first I was worried that the bus from Comber to school would take ages but it doesn't actually take that long - only about twenty minutes. Grosvenor is a brilliant school for sports. I go to netball, fencing and athletics. In athletics I do hurdles, long jump, shot putt and javelin. All of these things are excellent.
