Congratulations to Grosvenor cricketer Mark Johnston whose bowling performance of five wickets for the concession of just one run helped his team to a massive 166 run victory over Coleraine Academical Institution on Saturday 2nd June.
Mark's scintillating bowling performance came during a three over burst which accounted for the wickets of 4 out of the opposition’s top 5 batsmen. Mark was ably supported by the remainder of his bowling attack on the day, with Adam Skelton taking 1-14, Aaron Carson 1-2 and Andrew Welsh 3-2. Grosvenor’s excellent bowling and fielding display also came after its batsmen had posted an imposing 189 for 5 during their 20 overs, with opener Lex Walker impressing with a mature 59 and Stewart McClune unlucky to fall just two short of his fifty.
In addition Grosvenor’s 1st XI also maintained its excellent record for the season by defeating C.A.I. Having restricted its opposition to a total of 76 from their allotted overs, Grosvenor laboured towards their target somewhat, with Captain Alistair Shields eventually helping them to victory, with three balls to spare, by 6 wickets.
The victory of Grosvenor’s 1st XI over C.A.I. took its record for the season to 11 victories out of a possible 12 and sets the team up perfectly for its eagerly anticipated Schools’ Cup semi final against Limavady Grammar School on Tuesday 5th June.
