Ulster Schools’ Track and Field Championships 2025
Congratulations to the School’s track and field athletes who performed superbly at the Ulster Schools’ Championships, held over Friday 16th and Saturday 17th May at the Mary Peters Track.
Amongst a number of outstanding performances over the two days were those which contributed to the School’s total of six gold medals, such as those of Dominik Lipowski (Junior Boys Discuss), Jacob Cochrane (Junior Boys Triple Jump), and Emily Hobbs (Junior Girls 1200 Walk). In addition, Jude Glover and Noah Harper performed superbly to claim first place in the Intermediate Boys High Jump and 1500 metres respectively. In addition, the Junior Boys 4 x 100 metres relay team, comprising Jacob Cochrane, Zayn Ahmed, Jeydhel Cabuhal and Isiah Erhabor, performed superbly to claim a further gold.
Elsewhere, Ben Sykes backed up his Ulster and Irish Schools’ titles from last year with silver in the Intermediate Boys 100 metres, while Eva Lasini performed impressively to claim bronze in the Mini Girls Shot Put.
Despite such incredible success, the event was tinged with sadness as a number of Year 14 athletes competed in their final events after 7 years of representing the School – they should be immensely proud of their efforts over the years, and of their loyalty and commitment throughout this time.
We now look forward to many of the above athletes testing themselves at an ever higher level as they prepare to compete at the Irish Schools Athletics Championships, in Tullamore, on 31st May.
